Guide to Recanati
This beautiful small hill town is known to the Italian as the birthplace of one the country's best poets, Giacomo Leopardi, for the tenor Beniamino Gigli and the painter Lorenzo Lotto.
It's on the crest of a hill, near the cost of the Adriatic Sea. While during 16th and 17th century it was one of the most important towns in the Papal States, nowadays it is remembered for its famous son, Leopardi.
